Carrie: Teen Wolf is insane this season! I’m almost nervous for the finale!
Kristin: We suggest you start preparing yourselves for one epic mindgame, based on what Jeff Davis tells us of “The Divine Move,” the finale. So what does it mean? “People in the know will understand that it refers to a move in the game of Go, which is the Japanese version of Chess, basically,” he explains. “It’s a Go game. Go is a very Asian game. It’s Chinese, Korean and Japanese. It’s a very difficult game to learn and compete in.” (x)
Wait wait wait. The Divine Move? That’s the finale title you chose? I play Go and I swear to God if the finale does not live up to that title I will be so pissed. For those of you who don’t play, the divine move is a rare instance where a player who is losing is able to make an extraordinary and unexpected comeback from a clearly losing game by balancing tactics, sacrifices, and strategy. The move is really a set of moves leading up to this victory. The move will be something unique and inspired, resulting in victory.
Here’s the catch. The end result is victory, but it comes with a cost. I said sacrifices must be made. I assume this is referencing the character death. Well, Jeff, you have my attention with that title. Let’s see you deliver. I am actually really interested to see what you’re going to do with this.
This is getting crazier and crazier and more addicting by the minute! Is there a Teen Wolf rehab yet. I need to check in.
"I knew that Derek and Stiles were just magic." —Jeff Davis [x]
"When you see certain things working, you write towards them, and we definitely did that. We actually started out, in the writer’s room, with a heading that said "great pairings", and at the top of that was Derek and Stiles." —Jeff Davis [x]
"They would’ve gone bonkers for the scene that I had originally planned. You can print this. The idea was Stiles paralyzed on top of Derek, and Stiles says to Derek, ‘Wait a minute! I can still move my tongue.’ So the scene would have been Stiles pushing his tongue against Derek’s face, trying to get himself off using just his tongue."
"Eventually, the tongue ends up in Derek’s ear and Derek’s saying, ‘Stop! Just stop. Just stop.’ Dylan loved the idea when I pitched it to him." —Jeff Davis [x]
"What can I say, I’m a fan of great TV…and a Sterek pairing would be legendary. Ps. I’m working on my fanfic as we speak." —Greg Berlanti (co-creator and writer of CW’s “Arrow”) [x]
"Well, they do have undeniable chemistry." —Jeff Davis [x]
"I’m a Sterek fan. It’s just too great not to be." —Holland Roden [x]
"The Derek and Stiles relationship, to me, is one of my favorites on the show to play, just because it is such a contrast in their characters. I mean, they are the complete opposites. So I think anytime you have those kinds of characters interacting with each other, it’s always a really fun thing to explore. I know that every time I see a script with a Derek and Stiles moment, we always get excited about whatever day we’re going to be shooting that.” —Tyler Hoechlin [x]
"Dude, that ship sails itself. Don’t need my help!" —Adelaide Kane (when asked if she ships Sterek). [x]
"Sterek is eternal." —Max Carver [x]
"I do. I want them to get together." —Daniel Sharman (about Sterek) [x]
"They’re like Ross and Rachel. They end up together."—Holland Roden [x]
"There are a lot of scenes between Derek and Stiles that I find utterly amazing. Cause they do have a really great relationship." —Crystal Reed [x]
"Since the beginning, it’s always been the same with them. Like, they’ve been brought together just by the circumstances that they’ve fallen into. But I think over the course of season one, they’ve grown to care about each other." —Dylan o’Brien [x]
"Derek and Stiles have a lot of fun together. I think you guys all can see the dynamic." —Tyler Hoechlin [x]
"Dylan and I have gone to Jeff with an idea for a scene, and I don’t wanna say what it is, because it might still be used hopefully. Cause I really do think that it would be a really fun scene. And it’s a really great, touching scene." —Tyler Hoechlin [x]
"But I had an idea for Jeff, that when we do finally meet, and if it’s a scene that’s very expositional—like if we come together and something’s going on, and we have to converge and discuss something—then we should kind of stop at the end of it and before we walk away, Stiles should just say, ‘I missed you’.”—Dylan o’Brien [x]
"What’s misunderstood [among these fans] is that Tyler and I don’t like it or something, but that’s not true." —Dylan o’brien (about Sterek) [x]
"I think the Stiles and Derek relationship, in the same way that Derek has come to trust Scott a little more, I think Derek has come to giving Stiles a little bit more credit for what he’s been able to contribute, all of the things that they’ve gone through, and how instrumental he’s been. You’ll probably see a lot more concern from Derek than you would have in the first two or three seasons where he would have been like, ‘Just kill him…because I don’t like him anyway…and it’s an easy reason to get him out of here.’ I think you’ll actually see a little bit more concern and care from Derek." —Tyler Hoechlin [x]
"Not only am I surprised by the popularity of Sterek, but I have to say i’m overwhelmed by the tenacity and passion that it obviously required to win." —Jeff Davis (after Sterek won The Backlot’s first Slash-ship tournament) [x]
"Teen Wolf fans, in general, are superfans. But the Stereks are no doubt the Alphas of the fandom." —Jeff Davis [x]
"Sterek all the way." —Dylan o’Brien [x]
I love the Stiles/Derek dynamic. I am not a Sterek fan as in I want them together, I just love their scenes together. How about an episode where Stiles and Derek are stuck in a car for hours. That would be awesome!!!
Major character death this season: Stiles’ luscious lips.
*barely catches up on three episodes worth of comics before the new ep*
Next episode Scott kiss Allison, Isaac returns, Lydia and Scott trying to save Stiles… yeah, sounds good.
I generally hate flashbacks in any tv show but I enjoyed this episodes flashback. I think I liked it mostly because we learned a lot of information.
The Fox and the Wolf highlights:
This entire Stiles’ possession mess is Mrs. Yukimura’s fault. Actually. Also Kira’s mom is 900 years old. The fly holds the Nogitsune’s spirit/power and if they can bury it again it’ll “die.”
Now we know why Mrs. Yukimura hates werewolves so much. A werewolf killed her beloved in 1943.
The Nogitsune played major mind games with Stiles because it wanted him so badly. Or it can only possess Stiles? I don’t know. But the Nogitsune used Stiles’ mothers MRI and other symptoms to weaken his resolve and hope. ;( So sad.
The Nogitsune in Stiles wasn’t possessing the mafia boss way back when; that just gave us reference for the Oni demons and what a nogitsune is.
Isaac is probably dying; or at least the nogitsune thinks so (he put Isaac’s chess piece off the board).
Sheriff Stilinski is really smart (now we know where Stiles’ gets it from). Everyone thinks that Stiles’ needs to be killed and our lovely Sheriff just comes up with an ingenious idea. I don’t know what the idea is yet but I know it’s brilliant.
Malia Tate is once again gone but she has to be important somewhere else along the line. She wants to be a were-coyote full time and she needs help to shift (because dumb bitch don’t know how). Plus her and Stiles had sex and the condom is still nonexistent: TEEN PREGNANCY ALERT.
Derek and Argent are still bromancing!
Scott is going to do everything in his power to save Stiles (even if that means turning him into a werewolf?)! Scott is under the impression that if he can learn what mistakes were made in 1943 he can prevent Stiles from being killed now. My fear is that maybe Stiles WILL die. I don’t like thinking that but I also have to remember that Teen Wolf is a tv show and Dylan O’Brien may want freedom to pursue other projects full time (such as The Maze Runner). I hope it’s not true and that the show will have a series finale with all my beloved characters there until the end but I have to be realistic.
Let me know your thoughts!
They always talk.
The little smirk the nogitsune does while possessing Stiles showcases to the audience how cocky it is. It freaking loves the chaos, strife and pain it is causing.
*Also props to Dylan for consistently adding this minor detail.
Back in episode 14 of Season 3B “More Bad Than Good” we see someone pull a plant from the Nematon
then 3 figures form at the end from fireflies.
After this happens, the Oni appear. Most people assumed these were the Oni. I was always skeptical as there were only 3 and the first shot of…
